Harvey Beuerman Obituary
October 23, 1936 - March 22, 2024
Merced, California - Harvey Merton "Mert" Beuerman passed away on March 22, 2024 from complications due to acute myelogenous leukemia (AML).
Mert was born on 10/23/1936, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Adolph Agustus "Frank" Beuerman and Rose Clotilda (Kraupa) Beuerman. He received a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Northwest Missouri State University and a Master of Science in chemistry from Marquette University. Despite being a graduate of Marquette University, he really loved and followed the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats sports teams.
Mert was a resident of Merced for 58 years, taught chemistry at Merced College for 31 years, and was known to his students as "Mr. B". He was very active with St. Patrick's Catholic church as a lector and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. When he was not teaching chemistry or involved with church activities, Mert was tending to the farm. His hobbies included woodworking, welding and all the various skills necessary to successfully take care of and manage a 12-acre walnut orchard.
Mert is survived by his wife of 44 years Antoinette "Toni" Beuerman, his brothers Everett and Howard Beuerman, his son Douglas Beuerman, wife Darla, grandsons Alex and Derek, his son Steve Beuerman, wife Yvonne, grandsons Brian, Isaac, and granddaughter Anna Rose. Mert is also survived by his stepchildren, Steve and Patti Small, grandchildren Robert and Jacqueline, Laura Small, BV and Katherine Rao, grandchildren Meagan and Kiri, Kurt and Lydia Small, and granddaughter Taylor, Jonathan and Kim Small, grandchildren Alexandra and Zachary, Matthew and Catherine Small and grandson Jacob.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick's church in Merced on April 6th at 9am. A rosary will precede the mass at 8:30am. A viewing will be held on April 5th from 4-7pm at Stratford and Evans Funeral Home in Merced.

I met Mert when he and others were instrumental in bringing 24/7 (except for weekends) Eucharistic Adoration to St. Patrick's parish. He was a faithful lover of Jesus and Our Lady. Thank you Mert. RIP. God's Blessings to Toni, your family and friends.
