Beloved Mother, Wife, Grandmother and Friend to many.
Helen Shue, 73, of Merced died at 2:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Mercy Medical Hospital. She was born August 10, 1939 in Oakland, CA. to Angel and Clara Vargas.
Although she only attended school until the first grade, she taught herself English, as well as mathematics. She was known as the best chef and caregiver in her neighborhood and to everyone she knew.
She met the love of her life Jerry Shue when she was 23. Helen and Jerry were married on September 6, 1962. They had 7 children: Sharon, Jerry, Mary, Charlotte, Veronica, Richard and Edna.
Following the tragic loss of her daughter Edna Ovela Shue, Helen lost her husband, Jerry Shue in 1992. Helen is also preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Manuel, Raymond, Richard and Leapold Vargas.
She leaves to cherish her memory two sons: Jerry Wayne Shue Jr. and Richard Thomas Shue; four daughters: Sharon Leona Salinas, Mary Alice Barajas, Charlotte Rose Ewing and Veronica Lynn Roberts; 20 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren; Brothers: Joe, Jesse, Johnny Angel, Henry, Manuel, David and Eddie Vargas; Sisters: Virginia Vargas Boudine, Irene Mergado, Margaret Madrid, Rosemary Vargas and Angie Herrera.
Helen's loving nature attracted the utmost love and appreciation from all of her friends and family.
A Graveside service will be held on Monday, August 12, 2013 at 10:00 A.M., at Merced District Cemetery in Merced. Father Isaque Meneses will be officiating.
