Jean Grabow Obituary
July 9, 1942-August 20, 2011
Jean Grabow went to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior on August 20, 2011. She was surrounded by her adoring family, including her husband of 50 years, children, and grandchildren. She was 69 years old, and she died of complete kidney failure.
Jean was born July 9, 1942 in Minot, ND to Howard and Florence Guthrie. She attended school in Surrey, ND and graduated from Surrey High School in 1960. Jean married Warren Grabow on August 6, 1961 in Minot. They moved to Atwater, CA in 1964.
Jean was a loving mother to five children. After her children were born, she was a full-time homemaker and mother. She was an avid reader, and her family jokes that she had enough books to open her own store or library. Her favorite book was the Bible, and she studied it every day. She was also a wonderful cook and baker. She was famous among her friends and family for her chocolate chip cookies and caramel rolls.
Jean was an example of faith in Christ to all who knew her. Her faithful service and unconditional love were a testament of her unwavering faith.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Florence Guthrie.
She is survived by her husband Warren Grabow, her children, Kary Grabow of Carson City, NV; Julie Chambers of Merced, CA; Wesley Grabow of Long Beach, CA; Kristy Stark of Long Beach, CA; Wade Grabow of Santa Barbara, CA; and "son" Carlos Mendez of San Diego, CA; her brothers, Robert (Butch) Guthrie of Gaylord, MI and Howard (Buck) Guthrie of San Tan Valley, AZ. She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren, Jackie, Levi, Jeana, Becky, Jessica, Caleb, Graham, Owen, and Eden, two sons-in-law, and three daughters-in-law.
The memorial service will be Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Merced, located at 500 Buena Vista Dr.
In lieu of flowers, please make a monetary or food donation to the First Baptist Church of Merced Food Bank.

The Grabow family, especially Jean, introduced me to my relationship with Jesus Christ. I still have the bible she gave me in high school with her note to keep it as my guide in life. God used her to touch so many lives for His kingdom. My thoughts and prayers go up for those grieving her loss.

I grew up with the Grabow family and Mrs. Grabow was a wonderful "second mother" to me. I spent alot of time at their house with Kristy all through grade school & into high school & always had a great time being a part of this family. Jean touched a lot of people and I am glad she was someone that I knew. My heart goes out to Kristy and the whole family.
