Jeffrey Boothe Obituary

Jeffrey Boothe
May 17, 2021
Merced, California - Dr. Jeffrey F. Boothe, age 67 of Merced, CA, passed away unexpectedly May 17, 2021.To know Dr. Jeffrey Boothe is to love him. He was the kind of man who walked into a room and added light, joy and personality to it, filling the room with his infectious, recognizable laugh. He was warm and friendly to everyone he met and his personality was magnetic, an attribute that carried him successfully and happily through his 67 years of life.
Jeff was a family man, devoted to raising his three sons, Brandon, Kyle, and Chris, and to his wife Sherry, who was his best friend and the love of his life. Sherry and Jeff shared a love and devotion for one another that was noticed and admired by all who know them. This summer they would have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. He also adored his six grandchildren, playing an active part in their lives, and they all adored him right back.
Dr. Boothe was a man who prided himself in his work as a dentist. After graduating dental school in 1984 from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Jeff and his wife Sherry returned to Jeff's hometown of Merced, CA, to raise their family and open up his dental practice. For 37 years, he dedicated himself to his craft of dentistry, and his care and concern for his patients. Dr. Boothe was a member of the California Dental Association, the Seattle Study Club, the Yosemite Dental Society and the Las Vegas Institute for Cosmetic Dentistry.
Growing up, Jeff was an incredible multi-sport athlete, excelling in basketball, football and baseball at Merced High School, where he held a basketball scoring record for many years for the most points scored in a game. After high school, Jeff spent two years playing basketball at Merced Community College before transferring to University of Texas on scholarship to play basketball for two more years. In 2019, Jeffrey was honored to be inducted into the Merced High School Hall of Fame for his athletic successes. Jeff could often be found swinging golf clubs at the Merced Country Club, a favorite place of his to spend a Friday morning with his favorite golf buddies. Jeff had an artistic gift, spending many afternoons painting beautiful watercolor landscapes that fill his home. He was also an active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving in many capacities during his life.
The sounds of Jeff strumming his guitar as he sings "Hotel California," "Free Fallin," and especially his annual Christmas Elvis impersonation to the tune of "Blue Christmas" will be greatly missed by his family and loved ones.
Jeff Boothe was born April 9, 1954 in Brigham City, UT to Parents Donna Boothe, and Lee Boothe (deceased). Jeff is survived by his wife Sherry, his son Brandon (Julie), son Kyle, and son Chris (Stephanie). He is also loved by his six grandchildren, Austin, Avery, Taylor, Brinley, Madyn and Layla, his loving mother Donna and his brothers Jesse (Julie) and Donnie. He is preceded in death by his father Lee and brother Steven.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 12 at 11:00 am, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints building located at 1080 E. Yosemite Ave., Merced, CA.

It's been two years and i just barely got a new dentist. Needless to say I desperately needed a dentist. However I did Not replace you. I'm sorry I could not go back to your office. It would've made me too sad. Hope you're smiling down on us.

We were extremely sad to hear of Jeff's passing. The three of us were in the class of 1972, and he was our dentist. He was a quality individual and successful in all areas of his life. Our prayers and condolences are with his family.

I just now saw this news and I’m heartbroken. Dr. Boothe was one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. I was always so anxious about going to the dentist and he always helped to melt those anxieties. The last appointment I had he randomly decided to teach me about what they look for in the teeth x-rays they take and I just thought it was the neatest thing and how cool that he would take time to tell me all about it. I’ll miss him greatly.

In September 2020, Gary, Matt, Rachel & I met Jeff & Sherry in Cabo. We instantly connected & formed a blessed bond of friendship. We will greatly miss staying connected on Facebook with Jeff! We gave a toast to him & his family on May 19, as it was a birthday celebration for us. God bless the Boothe family and all their friends. Thinking of you all in Kansas!

1970. As a quarterback he threw hard. Jeff could knock a receiver down on the short pass. Or, with his power, overthrow your fastest down field sprint. He was an amazing Merced High athlete. Our condolences are with the Boothe family.

My daughter and I were having lunch when she told me she had some sad news. This was a total shock to me.Dr. Boothe was my family dentist for 33 years. She kept him as her own dentist as an adult. He was amazing! My son was 5 when I took him to Dr. Boothe. When my son came out with a smile and a toothbrush, I knew he must be amazing. While I waited in the waiting room, I expected to hear screams as I had had a bad experience with a dentist myself. I always told Dr. Boothe he better not retire because all my teeth would fall out as no one could replace him. He laughed. I will miss the humming as he worked on my teeth. He was truly a great man. So, Sherrie and family I truly am sorry for your loss and I pray for your strength during this difficult time. Also to his staff as I know they were a very close bunch. We are all lucky to have known Dr. Boothe.

Mike and I are so sorry for your loss. You and Jeffery were so much like Mike and I, couldn't take our eyes off each other, always having the deepest Love. He was a ball of sunshine. We can't be there because our daughter Melissa died in a accident June 5th so we are up in Washington helping her husband with arrangements. They will never be Forgotten, we can Thank the Lord for beautiful memories.
