Modesto, California - Jody Lynn Herrera (Hopper), of Atwater, California, was a loving wife, mother, sister, friend and teacher. She passed away unexpectedly on June 9, 2022, at the age of 44.
Jody is survived by her husband, Bryan Herrera, children James and Chloe; sisters, Jenny Mossey (Bruce), Jamie Palaima (Chris), Jillian Webber (Ryan); stepfather, Dave Deso; mother-in-law, Saundra Herrera; grandmother-in-law, Peggy Gordon; brother-in-law Steven Herrera (Angela); nieces, Nicole, Amanda, Ada, Adeline; and nephew, Harry. She was preceded in death by her mother, Julie Hopper; father-in-law, James G. Herrera; and grandfather-in-law, Lee Gordon.
Jody was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, on December 16,1977. On October 6, 2001, Jody married her love, Bryan Herrera. Two more loves came to Jody. In 2003, her first child, James arrived. Then in 2006, their family was complete with the arrival of her daughter, Chloe. Jody was immensely proud of everything her children did. She supported them in all of their activities. Whether it was a baseball game or dance competition she made sure to always be there. She was James's number one baseball fan and attended every game. Jody was the best dance mom, not only for her Chloe, but for all the other girls that needed any help before a recital or competition.
Jody found her joy becoming a preschool teacher at Washington Elementary School. She loved each and every student who passed through her classroom. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, students, and all who knew her.
The viewing service will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2022, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Wilson Family Chapel on Winton Way in Atwater. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, June 24, 2022, at 10:00 AM at the Atwater United Methodist Church on Linden Street in Atwater. Following the service, a reception will be held at Washington Elementary School on Oakdale Road in Winton. Flowers and condolences may be offered at Wilson Family Funeral Chapel in Atwater, California.

I was so baffled and saddened when I heard about your passing, when we were younger all of us were so close... You and Jay Jenny and Josh, me and Jaime and DJ and Jill. I still tell everyone about our family and the coincidence of the 4 boys and 4 girls each of us within a yr or two of each other. Even though I haven't seen or spoke with you in such a long time I will still miss you all the same and you will always be in my heart. My deepened condolences go out to your children Chloe and James, your husband Bryan and of course your sisters Jaime, Jill and Jenny. You will be missed
