John Kenealy Obituary

John (Jack) Patrick Kenealy Jr.
August 27, 1952 - February 18, 2023
Sacramento , California - John (Jack) Patrick Kenealy Jr., was born August 27, 1952 in Carmel, CA. He entered into rest February 18th, 2023 in Sacramento, CA. Jack was a incredible husband and father, with a marvelous intelligence and a captivating wit. He was a kind soul who was generous with his time and spirit. Jack had a magnetic personality that attracted countless friends through his years. From a young age, it was apparent that Jack was an intelligent and unique person with great potential. He excelled in school and always loved to learn and he never stopped learning. After graduating from Merced High School, Jack attended Stanford University and then completed his Juris Doctorate at Hastings Law School in San Francisco. He became a lawyer at the age of 25. He had a successful law practice in Redding, CA until 1998, when he relocated to Woodland, CA. Eventually, in 2002, he and his wife Shelly, along with their business partners, Kaj and Parm opened Woodland Residential Services serving persons with developmental disabilities. Jack is survived by his wife of 33 years, Shelly, sons Ian (Emily), Chance, and sister Lynne (Bill) Thayer, and a world of people who loved him. Jacks passing will leave a void in the lives of many. A celebration of life will be held in Rio Linda, CA, on March 18th at 2:00 PM. All who knew Jack are more than welcome. Those who wish to attend may receive information from Lynne at 831-594-0532. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Wounded Warriors will be appreciated.

Jack was a good friend to many. He was certainly one of the best friends I have known. Despite his many talents and accomplishments, there was not a bit of pretense in the man. He was always, unapologetically, just Jack. And he always accepted his friends for just who they were, flaws and all, greeting them with joy and generosity. When I think of Jack, the words of one of my favorite bands, I See Hawks in LA, ring in my head.
...didn´t we have some good times
some good and foolish times...
You will be missed Jack, but you will never be forgotten.

Jack was special in so many ways. His magnetic personality drew people to him and his fun-loving and sweet nature kept us as friends, no matter the distance or time. You will be missed Jack - but travel on, dear friend, to your new adventure!

Rise in Glory dear, full of wonder Jack. So many will miss you and you are gone way too soon but if anyone has ever been called to do their magic from the other side it is you.
