John Theodore Talbott

1924 - 2007

John Theodore Talbott of El Cajon, California passed away unexpectedly on August 16, 2007 at
the age of 83. He was born July 8, 1924 in Hoquiam, Washington to John Joseph Talbott and Ida Cloutier. He served in the
Army for 4 years during which time he met the love of his life, Joanna Lee Dayhoff. They were married 61 years. John graduated from the University of San Francisco with a degree in law. Subsequently, he worked for Farmers Insurance Group for 37 years, beginning as a claims adjuster, branch claims manager, regional claims manager, Director of Claims Training and Education, and then in the Legal Department of Farmers handling malpractice insurance cases.
After retiring, he and Joanna traveled the world enjoying places like Maylasia, Singapore, Hawaii, the British Isles, Fiji, Tahiti, the Mediterranean, Guadalajara, Cancun, Mazatlan, and even two bicycle trips, one in Holland and one in France, bicycling over 235 miles in France alone. Never without his wonderful sense of humor, he was loved by all for his spunk, his caring, and his ability to put anyone at ease. His favorite response to almost anything was “Oh, Yeah?”
He is survived by his wife Joanna of El Cajon, CA, son Jon Marc Talbott of San Diego, CA; daughter Marcia Lynne Bailey of Lakeside, CA; his granddaughter Kimberly Bailey of El Cajon, CA; his grandson Steven Douglas Bailey and his wife Susan, and great-grandson Nathan Douglas Bailey of Amarillo, Texas; brother Keith Talbott and his wife Jan of Livingston, CA; and brother-in-law James Dayhoff and wife Lois of La Mesa, CA; brother-in-law, Jack L. Dayhoff of La Mesa, CA, and dozens of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Joseph Talbott, step-mother, Annie S. Talbott, his brother, Richard W. Talbott, and his mother and father-in-law, Insley L. Dayhoff and Goldie Dayhoff. After cremation, he has requested that his ashes be scattered at sea off the coast of San Diego. A memorial party to honor his life rather than mark his death, will be held at a later date.
