Atwater, California - Joseph John DeGregori was born in Gustine on December 12, 1926, and died on August 8, 2023, in Atwater at the age of ninety-six. He is survived by his wife, Dolores, his son's John and Duane, his eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and sister Elvira (Babe). He is preceded in death by his parent's John and Elvira, a daughter Cathleen and sister Laura.
When Joseph's stepfather had a heart attack, he started his full time career as a dairyman ending his schooling as a freshman. Joseph met Dolores at a ball game in 1952. They would go on to get married in Gustine. They honeymooned in Catalina Island and stayed at the Hotel Atwater. Joe and Dolores moved to Atwater, CA in 1964.
In Atwater, Joseph's dairy was grade A, award winning. He prized himself on quality and won 1st place for Producer Quality Competition. His dairy was recognized for an outstanding roadside appearance for 10 consecutive years from 1965-1974. He sold his dairy in 1975 and a few years later purchased an almond orchard that he cared for in the same manner as his dairy. He ran the orchard for a number of years until he retired to enjoy his time traveling with his beloved wife, and many of their close friends.
A viewing will be on August 23rd, 2023 from 3-6 PM at the Wilson Funeral Chapel in Atwater, CA. The rosary will be held on August 24th, 2023 at 9:30 AM at the Saint Anthony's Church in Atwater, CA followed by the funeral service at 10 AM. Afterwards, the burial is at Winton's Cemetery.
