Joseph (Joe) Parreira passed away on Monday, October 29, 2012 at Kaiser Medical Center in Modesto at 84. A native of Los Banos, he and his family moved to Snelling at the age of 5 where they were in the dairy business. "Joey", the youngest in his family, moved to Cressey with the family as their business grew. In 1943 the family acquired property in Atwater, shortly after in 1945, at 16, he moved to Oakdale and went into the dairy business in partnership with his sister Virginia and brother-in-law Joe Fagundes. On July 8, 1948 Joe married the love of his life, Lucille Teixeira in Atwater. Joe and Lucille moved back to Oakdale, their home, in 1960 where they raised 5 children. Joe was a character, agreed with everyone, then did it his way. In his younger days he was a sports enthusiast enjoying hunting and fishing, later in life he liked to watch football and boxing. Together for 64 yrs. 2 mos. 15 days, Lucille passed away just 36 days prior to his own passing, leaving him yearning for his girl in his arms. He is survived by his 5 children; Kathaleen (David) Bach, John (Mary Anne) Parreira of Modesto, Joe Jr. (Meryl) Parreira of Riverbank, Kevin (Cheri) Parreira and Steve Parreira of Oakdale. Grandfather to Brad, Loren, Shannon, Jolene, Dorein, Joe III, Jeremiah, Brianne, Erin, John V, Ashley and Alyssa. Great Grandfather to Kayla, Seth, Korbel, Zackery, Sebastian, Joseph IV, Anna, Jordan, Keith, Colton, Connor, Liberty and Jensen along with his sister Etelvina Bettencourt of Atwater. Joe was preceded in death, in addition to his wife Lucille, by his parents Joao and Diulinda Parreira, as well as his siblings John Parreira, Mary Soares, Virginia Fagundes, Johnnie Parreira and Adeline Austin. Celebration of Life Services will be held Friday, 10:00 a.m. at the Oakdale Family Church of the Nazarene followed by interment at the Oakdale Citizen Cemetery.
