Merced, California - Manuel Ortiz Zuniga passed away on April 11, 2025, in Merced, California, at the age of 101. Born on May 19, 1923, in Merced, he was the child of Tereso and Casimira Zuniga.
Manuel was one of nine siblings, growing up with six sisters and two brothers. He built a life rooted in dedication and humility, working as a land engineer assistant and embracing his role as a devoted father and husband.
He is survived by his four sons: Jose Angel Zuniga, Gerardo Sigala Zuniga, Bernardo Sigala Zuniga, and Carlos Zuniga; as well as five grandchildren: Amanda, Christopher, Elizabeth, Stephanie, and Nicholas Zuniga.
Known for his generosity, compassion, honesty, and tireless work ethic, Manuel left a lasting impression on all who knew him. His humble nature and loving spirit were evident in every aspect of his life.
A faithful attendee of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Merced, Manuel found strength in his spiritual community. In his leisure time, he enjoyed watching baseball and other sports. He also appreciated simple pleasures relaxing with a Bud Light and cigarette after a long day.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and serve as a reminder of a life lived with integrity and heart.
