Myrna Mancebo-Morehouse Obituary

Myrna Louise Mancebo-Morehouse

October 31, 1942 - August 4, 2025

Merced, California - Myrna Louise Mancebo-Morehouse passed away on August 4, 2025, at Anberry Transitional Care in Merced. Myrna was born in Merced, CA, on October 31, 1942, to Albert and Elsie Mancebo. When Myrna was 10 years old her family moved to San Juan, Peru for a job her father received with Miles & Sons. As a freshman, Myrna returned to Merced to attend El Captain High School, where she lived with her aunt. She spent the next two years traveling back to Peru in the summer to spend time with her parents and siblings.

After graduating from high school, Myrna attended cosmetology school in Merced. Her first job as a cosmetologist took her to Lake Tahoe, but eventually returned home to Merced, where she worked at Mona Lisa Salon for over 45 years. Later, she continued her career at The Upper Cut for 5 years before retiring in 2016. Myrna deeply cherished the many friendships she formed with her clients over the years, valuing the special bonds that often grew into lasting friendships.

Myrna's happiest moments were spent snow skiing with her family and bicycling with her husband, Mike. She also enjoyed browsing local shops, gambling at the casinos, and caring for her flowers and plants. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she found joy in decorating her Christmas trees and baking treats for her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Suzanne King and Julianne Cosyns (Rodney Cosyns); stepdaughters, Kristi Dufresne, and Michelle Moloney; grandchildren, Lindsi Gallo (Peter Gallo), Tyler Cosyns, Emma Cosyns, and Savannah King; great-grandchildren, Joseph Gallo, Harold Gallo, and Mylee Gallo; sisters, Carol Gamble and MaryEllen Emrich; nieces and nephews, Lorna Morehouse, Jack Morehouse, Melissa Gamble, and Jenny Mullins.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Michael Morehouse; her parents, Albert and Elsie Mancebo; and her brother Norman Mancebo.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Mercy Cancer Center, Anberry Transitional Care, and Bristol Hospice for their compassionate care and support.

A rosary and mass in honor of Myrna will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Our Lady of Mercy Church, located at 459 W. 21st Street, Merced, CA 95340. The rosary will begin at 10:30 am, followed by mass at 11 am.

Myrna will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery alongside her parents and brother. A private burial will take place at a later date.

Julianne and Suzanne,
I am deeply sorry to hear about your mom's passing. She was always so kind to me during the times I spent at your house. I remember how she would drive Julianne and me to the roller rink. Please know that I am keeping both of you in my prayers.
Love,
Shauna Siino
