Pat J Upton, 94, of Merced, California passed away March 31, 2015 in Merced, California. He was born on December 2, 1920 in Lutie, Texas to Patrick and Maudie (Smith) Upton .Pat served his country in the Army during World War II, after the war Pat became a Chef at numerous restaurants including his own restaurant  Chickadees in Albany, CA. He met his loving wife Shirley while he was working at a restaurant in Fresno and she at the wholesale meat market
Pat is survived by: his wife of nearly 50 years Shirley Upton, brother in law and sister in law Sonny and Ellen Stevens, Atwater, CA; brother in law and sister in law Jesse and Kathy Chambers, Kingsburg, CA. Nieces and nephews Michael Van Houten, Bakersfield, CA, Lisa Kramer, Montrose, CO, Keith Van Houten, Merced, CA; DeAnna Stevens, Atwater, CA, Greg Stevens, Hickman, CA, Kelly Chambers Kingsburg, CA, Julie Chambers, Kingsburg, CA and 11 great nieces and nephews and 6 great great nieces and nephews.
 
 
He was preceded in death by his parents Patrick Henry and Maudie Odessa (Smith) Upton, 1 sister and 5 brothers. A Committal service will be at 1:30 pm on Thursday April 9th, 2015 at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 West McCabe Road, Santa Nella, CA 95322
