Samuel Gutierrez Obituary
September 30, 1962 - July 24, 2023
Merced, California - Sammy passed away unexpectedly on July, 24.2023. He leaves behind his family that loved him so much. Jamie Schrole, his son Kevin (Treasure) Schrole, daughters, Kaitlin (Codi) Hanshew, Kristen Taylor & Kylie Anneliese Gutierrez. Mother in law, Carol Schrole. Sister Gina (Vahak) Arslanian. Nieces, Katherine Belle & Karly Arslanian. Sammy is also leaving behind his pride and joy, his grandchildren, Madysen, Mackenzie, Marley & Caleb Hanshew & Reagan Schrole. Sammy is proceeded in death by his father, Samuel G. Gutierrez, mother Balvina Gutierrez & father in law Gaylon Schrole. Along with many aunts and uncles. Sammy was born in Merced on September 30,1962 attending local schools and graduating from Atwater High.
Sammy's relationship with the Lord was the most important thing to him, he led his family with his faith, love and Gods grace.
Sammy worked for Pioneer Market in Waterford, Ca the last 10 years and he loved the employees, management and customers. He came home everyday telling us stories about what went on in his department, you wouldn't think there would be so many funny stories from a produce department, but every day he had a new story for us when he came home. He was so proud that he was promoted to produce manager & took his job seriously. One of his favorite quotes was always "I work for God & as long as I keep God front & center my job will always be 100%."
Sammy loved traveling with his buddies Johnny Cochran and Marcus Aue to race tracks all over. He spent many years enjoying the races and the friendships that would last his lifetime.
He is greatly missed but his memory will live on forever.
Sammy's favorite Bible verse: 1Corinthians 16:13-14
Sammy's greatest concern was for his friends that haven't found God. Time is short and if you would like to know how to have a relationship with Jesus, Sammy would like for you to meet anyone from our pastoral staff.
Memorial service will be held at First Baptist Merced (500 Buena Vista) Wednesday at 12:30, if you would like to pay your respects, the church will be open at 11:45. Reception to follow.

My Grandpa loved to plant flowers with me and teach me how to be funny we used to have a game where we would tag each other everyday and say tag no tags back the last thing I remember he said to me was " I love kiddo and Al´s tags no tags back" it has been hard in life without him especially since I´m going through depression and he was the only person I called home it´s hard without him but as long has he´s wishing me good luck and helping me with life I will keep going for him

Sammy was a good friend. Met him when I worked at Raleys. If you met Sammy you liked him. Great personality and work ethic. We talked sports and guy stuff! He will be greatly missed

Sammy was a great guy, Linda and I always enjoyed talking with him. I shared elk burger with him one time that he loved, and always talked produce with him.
I traded Fuyu Persimmons for Pioneer banana boxes. We were out of town last week and haven´t been shopping yet. We just found out about his passing from a friend the evening of his service otherwise we would have attended. We will miss his smiling face and never forget him. So so sorry for your family´s loss. And please God touch the family and help them through these tough times.

Shopping for produce at Pioneer Market will never be the same. Sammy was always so nice and was always a joy to talk to and always made sure to ask about my dog Steve because he loved when I would bring him shopping with me. Sending lots of love to everyone. Rest In Peace friend.

I think Sammy was one of the kindest people. You knew he was a Christian who loved the Lord, just by the way he cared for others.
Sammy would notice you looking for a good watermelon and he´d come help pick the right one and would say if it´s not ripe like you want bring it back.
He truly was a Blessing.

Sammy was a very special friend. Whenever Sammy came into the office where I worked he always had a smile and a hug for me. After business was taken care of Sammy would spend time sharing his pride and love for his family. Sammy will be missed by many but we're all blessed to have known Sammy and the memories he left everyone. Rest in peace dear friend.

Walking into Pioneer market and seeing the flyer of his passing I was deeply sadden. I shop there just about every day. He was always so happy and always picked out the best melons for me. My prayers are with his family and friends.
