Neavis, as her family and friends called her, passed away at the age of 90 on July 9, 2022 in Merced.
Neavis was born in Tuskegee, Oklahoma to John and Vessie Neal on September 9, 1931. Her family moved west years later, settling in California.
On June 13,1948 Neavis married the love of her life, Clyde Lee Huckobey, in Dos Palos, CA and were happily married for 55 years. Neavis was dedicated to her family of six children, eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, born after her passing.
Neavis and Clyde shared a love of camping with their children; Hal, Gary, Dana, Chris, Patricia, and Rod. The family spent as much time as they could outdoors creating long-lasting memories. These entertaining stories are still shared with family and friends.
Neavis and Clyde always enjoyed going to the coast. Monterey Bay being a favorite spot for them to celebrate their anniversaries. She and her two daughters enjoyed trips there together as well, whenever they got the chance.
She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles, reading mystery novels, watching westerns and shopping.
Neavis is preceded in death by her parents, John and Vessie Neal; husband, Clyde Huckobey; sons; Hal Huckobey and Gary Huckobey; brothers; Allen Eugene Neal, Winford Neal and James Neal; and her great-grandson, Nestor Franks.
After Neavis passed away, her beloved daughter, Patricia Jean Ridge passed peacefully after a five-year battle with brain cancer.
Neavis is survived by her brother, Kenneth (Christa) Neal; her sisters; Arlene (Fermin) Vergara, and Millie Coffee. She is also survived by her daughter, Dana (Ken) Wells; son, Chris (Patty) Huckobey and son, Rod Huckobe; grandchildren; Erik Wells, Jana Reyes, Nicole Ridge, Nate Huckobey, Josh Huckobey, Michelle Davis, Stephanie Koepnick and Michael Huckobey. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
There will be a joint Celebration of Life for Neavis and Patricia Ridge at Stratford Evans in Merced on October 21, 2022 at 10:30 a.m.
