William "Bill" Spielman
April 28, 1935 - November 20, 2017
Bill Spielman was born on April 28, 1935 in Merced, California and passed away on November 20, 2017 at the age of 82. He and his wife, Jeanine Spielman, whom he affectionately called "Jeanie", celebrated 60 years of marriage on March 30, 2017.
Bill attended local schools, OLM Elementary and Merced High School where he graduated from in 1953.
Bill served in the Army in France and then managed the Elk's Lodge #1240. After the Elk's, he went into farming full time and never officially retired. He was a member of the Elk's Lodge, Gateway A's (Local Model A Club) and the Eagles. He was also a Blue Diamond Grower.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Spielman, longtime residents of Merced, as well as his siblings Fabiola, Joseph, Alice, Daniel "Jack" and Sister Mary Nathaniel (IHM).
He is survived by his siblings Elaine, Bob (fraternal twin), children Tony (Patti), Michael (Sandi), Pat, Rick (Amber), grandchildren Craig, Chase, Jennifer, Brittany, Kallie, Sterling, Sharise, Jessica, Anna and four great-grandchildren.
His honorary pallbearers will be Gus Scoto, Clay Nordman, Ed Vegely, Eddie Silva and Tim Pellissier.
Vigil Service with Rosary will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 beginning at 9:30 a.m. with the Funeral Mass following at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church located at 671 E. Yosemite Ave., Merced, California. A reception of celebration of life will follow services.
The family would like to extend a huge thank you to Dr. Sidhu, Hinds Hospice and Lamerson Landy Care for their unwavering compassion and support. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hinds Hospice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home.
