Albert Halluin Obituary

Albert Price Halluin Resident of Sunnyvale A pioneer in Bio -Tech patent law passed away on February 19th in Groveland, CA. Albert, known as Al to his friends was 70 when he passed away doing one of his favorite things, flying. He was born in Silver Spring, MD and spent his youth there. Al was an exceptional musician, he loved the piano, organ, and keyboard but most of all, the guitar. Al took his guitar every where he went with a chance to perform for friends and family, and he was in several bands while growing up. When music did not work out for Al professionally, due to an injury he received during a summer job after high school, he changed his direction of his life. Since as a young man, he had a love for chemistry, and he attended Louisiana State University where he graduated with a BA in Organic and Biochemistry, in 1964. Al then attended University of Baltimore, School of Law, which he completed with a Jurist Doctorate degree in 1969. From the day he crossed the stage and received his diploma, Al was off and running and never stopped. During the years of his two son's youth, Al was very active in the Boy Scouts; he loved camping, hiking, canoeing and much more. He was a scout leader for many years, for Troop 72, in Westfield, NJ. Both of his son's became Eagle Scout, with the guidance and direction of their father. Al focused his practice on matters involving stem cell technology, genomics technology, DNA chips, recombinant DNA, transgenic technology, plant technology, protein chemistry, combinatorial chemistry, amplification technology, and immunology and polymer technology. Al has also been issued nine patents, for his own inventions. Al was highly decorated in his professional life, with many achievements and awards. Al was an accomplished patent attorney who was and will always be known as one of the nation's most prominent biotechnology patent lawyers and strategists ever. But most of all he was loved by his family and friends. With Al during his untimely passing was his fiancé, Judy Perchonock, who passed away as well. Al and Judy were engaged to be married on May 12, 2010, the three year anniversary of their first date. They will now be together for eternity. Al was preceded in death by his parents, William and Martha Halluin and is survived by his two son's Marcus and Russell Halluin, Daughter in-law Cheryl Halluin, and four grandchildren, Katarina, Alexa, Zachary, and Madeline. He is also survived by his sister Kathleen and her husband Charles Wyckoff, and their children, Rosemary and Charlie. Al was also survived by his close personal friend and mother of his two boys Joanne Halluin. Al should be remembered as a beloved father, grandfather and friend. His life will be celebrated on Friday, March 5, 2010, at 1pm at the Church of the Epiphany, 1839 Arroyo Ave., San Carlos, CA. (Street Parking only.) Private family Graveside Service was held. In lieu of flowers the family requests that a donation be made in Al's memory to one of the following charities: American Heart Association (http://honor.american heart.org/site/TR/Events/General?pg=fund&fr_id=1030&pxf id=140640 ), American Cancer Society, or a local ASPCA. We did not know Al, but knew his financee Judy and all of her family. We attended her memorial service today and would like to offer our condolences to all of Al's family and we hold them in our thoughts and prayers. How tragic for these two people who were going to start a new life together.

My thoughts and prayers are with Al's family and friends. I worked with Al at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati putting together training presentations for new Patent Attorneys. Al loved sharing his patent knowledge and made putting together the presentations very rewarding.
