James Joseph Bueche

James Joseph Bueche, age 90, died peacefully on March 25, 2026, at Vitality Court Texas Star Memory Care in Allen, Texas, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. He was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on November 10, 1935. James was the eldest son of Frank and Rachel (Samson) Bueche and brother to Melvin Bueche, son-in-law to Sam and Annie (Messina) Accardo, all of whom proceeded him in death.

James had a heart of gold that held a strong devotion and love for GOD, faith, family, and friends. James dearly loved his beautiful wife of 68 years Joann Accardo Bueche, children Brian (Renee) Bueche, Allison (John) Bauman, grandchildren Ashley (Sean) Cahill, Scott (Boyce) Bueche, Megan (Brandon) Murphy, McKenzie Bauman; and twin great – grandsons Kyle and Cade Cahill all of whom loved and cared for James (AKA – Bae, Daddy, Paw-Paw) until the day all the Angels and Saints came to take him to Heaven. James is also survived by and dearly loved by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sal and Lillie Misuraca, their children, and grandchildren, and the family dog, Roux!

This great man lived a full, healthy, happy, meaningful life. Educated in Catholic schools, James graduated from Redemptorist High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He attended classes at LSU and always cheered for those Tigers with a heart that desired SEC National Championships every year! James served in the National Guard. He made a 43 year career out of his work with the Department of Transportation & Development (DOTD) for the State of Louisiana and was a favored instructor with the highway department. His commitment, work ethic, and contributions were recognized and commended.

He married the love of his life, Joann Accardo, on September 1, 1957. This wise man often stated that the secret to a long and happy marriage could be found in the repetition of “Yes ma’am! Yes ma’am”! He advised every man to simply love and take care of his wife and family and to behave! His wisdom was simple, yet profound, uncomplicated and steady, just like him.

James and Joann welcomed Brian in 1961 and Allison in 1971. Fishing, gardening, walking, meticulously manicuring the lawn, and keeping their vehicles spotless, James loved the outdoors, South Louisiana crawfish boils, time with family and friends, and loved to attend daily mass where he often was an Altar Server to the priests.

After retiring from DOTD and after caring for his parents and in-laws in their final years, James and Joann moved to Plano, Texas, to reside near their children and grandchildren. There, the beloved Paw-Paw and Nana cared for babies, chased toddlers, carpooled kids to school and home for the next 20 years, and affectionately became “Everyone’s Grandparents” - a title well-deserved and rightfully earned. When thanked for the tireless efforts given to family and friends, Paw-Paw often replied, “It was nothing, Baby!” But everything done by Paw-Paw and Nana was something - Something very special because it was done with love and joy!

James had the manners of a Southern Gentlemen. He never met a stranger. He spoke with a distinct Cajun accent that hung in the air like the moss on cypress trees. His kindness was real. He was a precious gift to all.

This quiet man listened more than he spoke, but when he spoke, his words were true, just, wise, kind, and often humorous, for the wit of this clever man never left him. Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s took many things from James, physically, but he always recognized his family, knew the love of Jesus and his love for the Lord, and remembered to graciously be appreciative each and every day of his 90 years of life. He was a Holy model for us all, a man short in stature, but tremendous in character, and an awesome husband, father, grandfather, and great - grandpa who will be forever missed and forever remembered with love!

The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:30-8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 9, 2026, at the Allen Family Funeral Options, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m., followed by speeches given by the grandkids and a song sung by Chaplain Sharon from Pathway Hospice. 

A funeral mass will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 10, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 1:30 p.m. A reception will immediately follow the mass.

Pallbearers are Brian Bueche, John Bauman, Sal Misuraca, Scott Bueche, Sean Cahill, and Brandon Murphy.

The Rite of Christian Burial and interment will be at Resthaven Cemetery in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 24, 2026. Those attending the burial are encouraged to wear LSU attire! Because Paw-Paw loved all his grandchildren, OU attire will be allowed as well!

We are grateful to the staff, nurses and caregivers of Vitality Court Texas Star, the staff, nurses, caregivers, and chaplain of Pathways Hospice, Dr. Tam Cung, Nurse Nicole, Nurse Jonathan (Home Health), Dr. Brenden Kelley (UT Southwestern), the staff of ACE Physical Therapy, CNA Janie and her husband, Bryan, and all family and friends who supported us in prayer while walking James Joseph Bueche home to the Lord! We will forever be grateful for your goodness to him and to us.
