It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Reuben A. Bueche, a true family man, and loving husband and father who was a friend to many. Reuben left us on October 22, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on May 21, 1952, Reuben was a resident of Holland, Ohio, who dedicated his life to his family while making connections and nurturing those around him.
Reuben graduated from DeVilbiss High School in 1970 and further pursued his passion for technology, earning associate degrees in electrical engineering and computer technology from the University of Toledo. With a knack for connecting with people, he built a career that reflected his talents and deep appreciation for human relationships.
Reuben cherished time spent with his family. Whether at home in Toledo or at the family lake house on Lake LeAnn, he loved being around those who loved him the most. Reuben was great with his hands and crafted many projects at the lake house for his family to enjoy. This included woodworking, building decks and constructing the most adorable play house. His meticulous nature extended into every aspect of his life, from building things to folding laundry, as he strived for excellence in all that he did and encouraged everyone around him to be the best they could be.
Anyone who knew Reuben can attest to his quick wit and humor-he had a knack for joking that could brighten any day. He cherished "Coffee Mondays" at the Rocket Cafe with his friends and was never one to miss catching up with the guys. He enjoyed talking in the summer at the ice cream shop with his life-long friend of 57 years, Jim Kosakowski and his wife Joyce.
Reuben and Jane shared a sweet journey as business partners, operating the beloved Ben and Janie's Ice Cream and Coneys. As the face of their shop, Reuben took the time to connect with each customer, making everyone feel like family.
A passionate coin collector and a devoted sports fan, Reuben never missed a chance to cheer on his grandkids in their various activities. He also had a special bond with his cherished dogs, especially spoiling his favorite, Princess, who will undoubtedly miss him dearly.
Reuben is survived by his loving wife, Jane Bueche; children, Beth A. (Derick) Oyler, and Ben (Brad Jayne) Bueche; grandchildren, Alexis (DonTaveon) Witcher, Bailey Oyler, Derick Oyler Jr.; and great-grandchildren, DonTaveon Witcher Jr., DonZaveon Witcher and DaPree Witcher.
We invite family and friends to gather in remembrance of a man who loved deeply, laughed often, and lived life to the fullest at Walker Funeral Home (5155 W. Sylvania Ave.) on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, from 4 pm - 6 pm with a Celebration of Life beginning at 6 pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Tunnels to Towers, or St. Jude’s, both were close to Reuben's heart. Though he is no longer with us, his warmth, humor, and love will remain, guiding us through life just as he did.
