Following graduation, John was employed for Moree Associates, a civil engineering firm, holding the title of office manager for almost a decade, until the firm's closing in 1983. He would work many interesting jobs in his lifetime, such as a tax consultant, armored car driver, and was a driver for Brinks. In June of 1975, John married Sandra Lee Jameson, whom he would faithfully remain married to, until his passing. John and Sandra were members of the Glendale Presbyterian church, joining after their wedding ceremony. They both enjoyed singing in the choir. John would become Deacon and Elder in the church.
