Albert Hitchcock Obituary

Albert Hitchcock
Feb. 27, 1942 - July 2, 2017
San Jose
Al Hitchcock has peacefully passed away after a 3 year courageous battle against cancer. Al was born in Mount Vernon, New York to Gilbert and Enis Hitchcock, and was raised in California. He was a graduate of San Jose State University, and subsequently became an air traffic controller. He worked at Oakland Center, the in-route facility in Fremont, CA. He was a member of the U.S. Army reserves. He became a general building contractor in a career that spanned over 40 years. He was known for meticulous residential construction and later in his career for his work in Victorian restoration, including restoring what is thought to be the oldest barn in the city of Santa Clara.
Al is survived by the love of his life, best friend and wife of 49 years, Sherry Hitchcock, his two beloved sons, Christopher Hitchcock and Todd Hitchcock, both of San Jose, and one very special grandson, his sister Carolyn Fitzpatrick of Palos Verdes, CA and his brother Gilbert Hitchcock (Connie) of Pensacola, FL, and many nieces and nephews who he loved.
Next to his passion for construction, Al enjoyed horses and was a playing member of Menlo, Pebble Beach, and San Diego Polo Clubs, a sport he enjoyed with his family. In addition to historic homes, he also had a love for vintage cars. He had a passion for politics and the democratic process and hoped that everyone would always remember to vote. His kindness, "never give up" spirit, and willingness to help anyone, will be forever missed.
In accordance with his wishes, there will not be a memorial service. All arrangements are private. Donations for pancreatic cancer research can be made to UCSF Foundation, PO Box 45339, San Francisco, CA 95145-0339, specifying in memory of Albert Hitchcock /B2698 or online at giving.ucsf.edu.

Dear Sherry,
It is with heartfelt condolences to you and your lovely family with the passing of your loving husband, Al. Wishing you love and comfort during this time of healing.
It takes time to heal and you deserve to take that time for yourself and your family.
Time will not replace Al, but may possibly heal the hurt from the loss and carry on the way he would have wanted for the Hitchcock family.
You're the pillar of strength.
I'm always here for you!
Love you,
Aimee & Grover Smith
