Alma Zamora, 63 of Manteca and formally of San Jose died at Regional Medical Center of San Jose on May 18th after a long battle with cancer and other related illnesses. Alma was born to Rodolfo and Matilde Zamora in Eagle Pass, Texas on September 27, 1958. She moved to San Jose, California as a child and called the Santa Clara Valley home until her recent relocation to Manteca, California in September 2021. Alma was a graduate of San Jose High School in 1976 where she played field hockey and met life long friends. She medically retired from Regional Medical Center and the San Jose Arena, where she was an original employee, in 2016. Prior to working at Regional, Alma was an employee at Jennings Technology Company where she met her soul mate and life partner of 20 years, Bob. Alma loved spending time with her family, fishing, traveling, entertaining, and frequenting the San Jose Flea Market. She was extremely hard working, caring and thoughtful. Her family came first, always. She is survived by her son and his family, Chris, Sara, CJ and Tommy Martinez, step son Matt Thompson, sister and her family, Matty, Freddie, Evan, Andrew and Zavier Lopez, brother and his family Rudy, Gemma, Raymond and Adrianna Zamora, as well as an abundant network of extended family and friends. Alma was preceded in death by her parents Rodolfo and Matilde Zamora, and her soulmate Robert (Bob) Thompson. A Celebration of Life will be held at La Hacienda in Morgan Hill on Saturday, June 4th at 2:00 PM. A private interment is planned at a later date.

I was lucky to get to know Alma, albeit only for a short time. We enjoyed many community activities together. I will never forget my enjoyable Easter dinner at her home with her beautiful family. I will miss her sweet smile, laid-back attitude and fighting spirit. My sympathies to the family during this difficult time.
