Andrew Fitch Obituary

Andrew William Fitch
January 5, 1976 - April 17, 2018
Santa Clara
Our wonderful, quirky son Andrew passed away from
cancer just before midnight April 17, 2018.
He was a graduate magna cum laude of the University
of St. Thomas, St Paul MN, with joint studies in Journalism
and Japanese, which he put to good use. Professionally, Andrew was a managing copy-editor extraordinaire, as well as a respected journalist/analyst in the video game industry. He made many firm friends through work in both Northern and Southern California and across the on-line universe.
Born in San Diego, Andrew was a direct descendant of Joaquin Moraga, 2nd in command of the 1776 Anza expedition, and of storied Capt. Henry Delano Fitch, the first Fitch in California, in old San Diego. Andrew and his family lived longest and last in Santa Clara. He is survived, and deeply missed by his twin-brother Adam, sister Sarah, mother Carol, father Robert, sister-in law Deborah, fiancé Mary and a multitude of Fitch, Sherrill, and Yarbrough aunts, uncles and cousins. Since one of Andrew's great enthusiasms was genealogy, he would be pleased his ashes will rest with many of his local California ancestors here in his home town.
A graveside prayer service will be at 2pm Friday, May 25, Santa Clara Mission Cemetery, 490 Lincoln St. Santa Clara. On Saturday, May 26 at 1pm, family and friends are invited to join in a Celebration of his Life. Expect food, music, photos, stories and laughter; at First Presbyterian Church, 2499 Homestead Rd, Santa Clara, CA 95050, in the Social Hall. Flowers to the celebration, or donations to the Cancer Research Institute (cancerresearch.org) are welcome.
