On November 1, 2016, Angela celebrated her 80th birthday. It was a joyous day! Sadly, Angela Marie Geissman passed five days later on Sunday, November 6th, 2016.
Angela was born in Chicago, Illinois, one of four siblings to Clara and Julius Brutto. She moved to California when she was nine years old and settled with her family in San Jose. She graduated from San Jose High School in 1954 and happily attended many reunions throughout the years. In 1956, Angela married Jerrold Keller Geissman and moved to Los Gatos. She proudly raised their two daughters, Gigi and Julie, eventually settling in Campbell.
Early on, Angela enjoyed her years working at the Los Gatos Public Library. She especially enjoyed storytelling to the children as she was always able to express herself with great animation. Later, she had a successful career with the San Jose Mercury News sales staff and was often its annual top salesperson. She retired in 1999.
Angela's passion was her family. She was an incredibly devoted daughter, sister, mother, and nana. She was her granddaughters' biggest supporter and could be heard cheering at every athletic event, school play, etc. Angela was an avid San Francisco Giants fan. So much so, she often cheered just as loudly for the replays as she did for the game itself. Angela was also extremely proud to be 100% Italian. In 2013, she fulfilled a lifelong dream by travelling to Italy with her family and visiting the birthplace of her father.
Angela's loving family includes her two daughters, Gigi (Steve) Spencer and Julie (Karen) Geissman-White; four beloved grandchildren, Cherine and Angela Hays, Grace and Maya Geissman-White; two sisters, Glory (Mike) Newman and Diane Gardner; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her eldest sister, Louise, preceded her in 1990. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Norma Haze and the aides of Brookdale Memory Care for their wonderful caregiving. Her laughter, love, and dance moves will be greatly missed by those blessed to call her "Lil Ang", "Nana", "Angie", and "Mom" and the many friends privileged to share in her life.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, November 20th at 12pm at Darling Fischer Garden Chapel, 471 E. Santa Clara Street, San Jose. Interment will be at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association.
