Anthony Moreno Obituary

Anthony (Tony) Moreno

Resident of San Jose

Aug. 10, 1932 - Nov.11, 2010

Tony Moreno died suddenly while vacationing in Southern France with his wife Imogene. He is already sorely missed and will continue to be so.

Tony was born in Sunnyvale, CA to Frank and Catherine Moreno. A graduate of Fremont High School in Sunnyvale Tony was picked to play football at San Jose State University. His football career was interrupted by the Korean War where Tony spent three years serving his country in the Seabees. Tony then returned to San Jose State to complete a master's degree in Industrial Arts.

At San Jose State Tony met the love of his life for the next 52 years, Imogene. Imogene brought Tony happiness beyond words and he was always very aware of what a lucky man he was.

Tony was a teacher in San Jose Unified School District for 33 years where he taught industrial arts at Hoover Jr High and Leland High School. He always enjoyed his students and had many fond memories. Tony retired from teaching at 57 and enjoyed a very active retirement for 21 years spent with Imogene traveling around the world with their family and friends.

Tony leaves behind two wonderful, supportive sons, Steve and Tim, plus a loving daughter-in-law, CeCe, who helps keep us going. He always wanted to live long enough to have grandchildren and he was very happy to have five-Steven Jr, Courtney, Isabella, Marguerite and Francesca. His family loved him very much and we will miss him.

Tony spent a large portion of his retirement playing golf with his sons and friends in the "Hackers". Every Tuesday was set aside for golf with the Hackers and then quickly back home for dinner with Imogene.

Tony and Imogene bought a cabin in Pinecrest in 1979 and this quickly became the center of family life for the Moreno's. Whether skiing the slopes of Dodge Ridge, fishing for lunkers in Lake Pinecrest or just hiking with Imogene this is where Tony loved life the most. His granddaughters will always remember long summer days fishing with "Pappa" and the patience and love that he shared with them.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at Cinnabar Hills Golf Course 23600 Mckean Rd, San Jose (408) 323-5200 on Sunday Dec. 5, 2010 at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers Imogene has asked that donations be made to West Slammers Softball. Please send all donations to PO Box 7413 San Jose, CA 95150.

So sorry for your loss. Mr. Moreno was without a doubt the best teacher I had in high school. He had a real gift of not only teaching wood shop and drafting, but somehow weaving everyday lessons about life into it all. Thank you Mr. Moreno.

Sorry to hear of Mr. Moreno's passing. He was undoubtedly the best teacher I had in high school. I was in his class all 4 years, and was his TA my senior year. I will never forget his advice and guidance when I was getting ready to graduate and join the Army. Thank you Mr. Moreno.

Sorry to hear of the loss. Mr Moreno was a great teacher, and I will always be thankfull for the guidance he gave me. I was in his drafting and woodshop classes, as well as a TA for him my senior year. The talks we had before I left to join the Army will always be with me. Thank you Mr Moreno.
