Saddened to hear of Tony passing. He was a wonderful man and it was an honor to serve with him. Rest in peace, my brother in arms...

Heaven just welcomed a real angel. I never met a more GENEROUS and KIND gentleman. I am lucky and blessed to have known him and be able to say we were friends. They don't make them like that anymore. I knew "Tone" from The Home Town Buffet where he had numerous friends and will be sorely missed. He was the unofficial birthday host. His now empty "end seat" will be a sad reminder of his passing but hopefully with time it will be a happy memory of a wonderful soul. I will miss his daily emails of jokes, pictures and mutual political views IN ALL CAPS!
Until we meet again my friend.

Two days ago I came across a letter that I had received from Tony many moons ago. As I read it I smiled for memories long past (as he could always make me laugh). Today I get an email notifying me of his passing. Wishing there could have been one more letter or phone call. A great person. My prayers are with his family, for I am sure they are missing the humor, the man.

We just recently planted a gift he sent to Aunt Jo so have a permanent memory of his kindness. She is saddened as are all of us, but we are also glad that he is no longer in pain.

Tony and I worked together for many years at SUDPS. I considered him to be not only a conscientious professional officer but also a close friend. We shared many challenging times together on our team and he was always reliable, compassionate and willing to go the extra mile for his colleagues. RIP Tony, I will miss you.

Tony was one of my first training officers at SUDPS. He was dedicated to the community and incredibly kind to all, even those who some would agree did not deserve it. I recall he was also highly dedicated to his family and especially his mom. He spoke of them on almost a daily basis. I know he will be missed by all who knew him.

I remember Tony from the time he worked at Mayfair Market in Sunnyvale. He was always very kind and considerate. Tony accompanied me to my Mom and Dad's 25 anniversary party! God Bless you! RIP!

Tony "Tone" Navarra was the first Deputy whom I did a ride-along with when I came to the Stanford DPS in 1974. I was impressed with his philosophy and commitment of service to the University community. Tony was almost always the first officer on a crime scene and often the last to leave. He was never afraid to roll-up his sleeves and help his fellow deputies--often doing the most menial but necessary tasks such and evidence collection and submission, canvassing for witnesses and writing volumes of reports--things that most cops dislike. . . His expertise in these mundane elements of the job enabled him to be an excellent trainer of new personnel. Deputy Navarra also had a heroic side, as noted in his Medal of Valor citation. He will be sorely missed.

I also worked with Tony at Stanford PD and he was always a very kind, caring and selfless man. I have such fond memories of those early days when we all started together, I can't believe it was over 40 years ago. Tony always took care of and watched over all of us. God bless you Tony, heaven just got another angel. Debbie
