Arlene Christie, 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 28, 2018 surrounded by the love of her family in San Jose, California. Arlene was born on March 9, 1939 in Brooklyn, New York, and as a child, the family relocated to the Los Angeles area. Arlene graduated with a BA from the University of California, Los Angeles. She met her husband of 50 years, Ken, in Brentwood, California. They started and raised their family in Orange County, California, Scottsdale, Arizona and finally in Mountain View, California where Arlene was a teacher as well as a homemaker.
An avid reader, Arlene enjoyed subscriptions to The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times as well as reading the latest new release novels from the Los Altos Library. Arlene was quiet, kind, fiercely proud of her children and she had an amazingly infectious laugh that put a smile on everyone who met her.
Arlene is survived by her three children: Diana Christie of Los Angeles, Calif., Jonathan (Karen) Christie of Venice, Calif., and Robin (Dave) Schultz of Mountain View, Calif., as well as her brother, Mark (Jan) Fisher of Irvine, Calif., and many other cousins, family and friends who will forever miss her. Arlene is preceded in death by her husband Ken who passed away in December 2016.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 4 at 2 pm at Home of Peace Cemetery at Oak Hill Memorial Park in San Jose. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association in Arlene's name.
