Barbara Treat Obituary

Barbara (Bobbie) Treat Of Cupertino, February 10th, 2009 at the age of 78. Barbara lived a fulfilling life devoted to family, friends, and community. Hailing from New Milford, Connecticut, she graduated from Mary Washington College and worked at Young and Rubicam Advertising in New York city. She moved to California in the 1950's and felt she had "come home". Barbara contributed many years as a volunteer at El Camino Hospital and as a catechism teacher at St. Joseph's Church of Cupertino. For the latter she was recognized with a St. Pius X award. As her 3 children grew into school age she contributed to the education and enrichment of school children. A charter member of the Portal School PTA, she served on several committees; she co-chaired and served with the Library Ladies (volunteers) and worked as a room mother and teacher's aide for many years. Beset early with arthritis, she remained cheerful and committed to Christ. In later years she was a constant source of comfort and guidance to family, and to friends that sought her for this. For the whole of her life she was committed to compassion and caring for others. Barbara is survived by her loving husband Steve, children Stephen, Emily and Daniel, grandchildren Becki, Ana, and Emma, and brother Jim. Viewing will be Tuesday, February 17 from 4-7 PM at Alameda Family Funeral Home, Saratoga. A brief Catholic service will be held at 7 PM. Commitment services will follow Wednesday, at 10 AM, at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Los Altos.
