Barry Gordon passed away on Wednesday, October 9th from cancer.
Barry was born in Chicago, moving to Southern California as an infant. He attended UCLA undergrad, and graduated from the College of Physicians and Surgeons in San Francisco in 1957. He practiced dentistry at Barber's Point Naval Air Station on Oahu for two years before returning to Northern California to establish his practice. Barry loved his profession and when he retired at 73, he was often seeing a third generation of his patient's families. He is survived by his wife, Margot, after 55 years of marriage and his son, Dan Gordon (Melissa) and daughter, Pam Gordon Takai. He was a devoted grandfather to Oliver, Haley and Cameron Gordon and Travis and Sean Takai.
Barry loved to play racquetball. As a devoted hobbyist his interests ranged from underwater photography, collecting N gauge model trains, deep sea fishing, and relaxing on his Tolleycraft boat. Barry was a prolific reader which he often did while smoking a cigar in his "cave". He and Margot enjoyed traveling the world, culminating with a family safari in Tanzania for their 50th anniversary.
Friends and family will be contacted at a later date for the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Palo Alto Medical Foundation and Mission Hospice.
