I just stumbled upon Carrie's obituary and am so sad. I have fond memories of Carrie from high school. I remember that we both became annoyed when our freshman English teacher assigned "Flowers for Algernon" and gave the class weeks to read a book that we had completed in one night. Annoyance led to giggling and two usually serious students became disruptive for the first time in either of our lives. The teacher "punished" us with an assignment to read Homer's Iliad and Odyssey and write an expository essay. We were actually happy about our punishment, which just led to more giggling. Carrie had a wonderfully dry sense of humor and we shared a love of puns. She had such a kind heart and loved her animals, especially her horse, Bianca. My heart goes out to her family for their loss. May her memory be for a blessing.
