Cleta Nelson Obituary

Cleta O. Nelson 83, of Sunnyvale. Mother, Artist and Teacher passed away in Sequoia Hospital, Redwood City on November 28, 2004.

Born near Caldwell, Idaho and attended Ellensburg High School and Central Washington State College in Ellensburg, Wash. Worked for Boeing Aircraft building B17s during WWII. Moved to San Francisco in 1950 and graduated from San Francisco State College in 1952. She was a resident of Sunnyvale nearly 50 years.

A national award winning classroom teacher, she received the Valley Forge Teachers Medal in 1966 and taught in the Sunnyvale School District from 1952 to 1982. She loved working with children and by using her artist's insight was able to inspire and motivate her students.

Survived by her son Robert, daughter-in-law Jean, sister-in-law Millicent Stitzel, nephew Jack Stitzel and family and cousin Irma Kerrick and family.

Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of her life at 1:00 p.m. February 5, 2005 at Life's Garden, 450 Old San Francisco Road, Sunnyvale. Parking is available across the street.
