Daniel Morgan Obituary

Daniel (Coach) Morgan July 3, 1949 - January 2, 2006

Dan passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at home on Monday, January 2, 2006. His passing is a huge loss to his family, friends and student athletes here in Santa Clara County.

Dan has dedicated his life to working with youth from his early years as a coach and president of Union Little League, to both a football and baseball coach at Branham, Leigh, Prospect and Westmont High Schools and most recently a football coach at West Valley College.

Dan was an employee of the San Jose Mercury News and always worked the midnight shift so that he could spend his days mentoring student athletes but most importantly spending as much time as possible with his only child, his son, Brandon, Bub, Morgan. Brandon is the best of Dan and will forever be the legacy of his love, his energy and his devotion.

Those of us who are impacted now by this loss also have a lifetime of memories to treasure, his humor, his laughter, his bark, but most importantly his endless belief in possibilities.

Dan leaves behind his loving wife, Sharon and his son Brandon, his mother, Ruth Morgan, of Manteca, sister Annette Medlin (Gary) of Campbell, brother Jim Morgan (Kathy) of Milpitas, sister Sue Soares (Steve) of San Martin and sister Cathy Gilbert (Bill) of Manteca and 20 nieces and nephews. Dan was preceded in death by his father Richard (Dick) and his sister Julie.

Dan's family invites you to attend a celebration of Dan's life on Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at the Campbell Memorial Chapel at 231 E. Campbell Avenue, Campbell, CA. Viewing will begin at 5:00 p.m. with the celebration service to begin at 6:30 p.m. A private burial service will be held on Wednesday.

We would like you to join us as we honor the spirit of life of Dan as we pay our last respects to this truly loving and dedicated man and to a life well lived. Please join us!

The family requests that donations be made in Dan's name to the charity of your choice. Arrangements by DARLING-FISCHER Campbell Memorial Chapel.

How complicated and individual mending is; the time required for healing cannot be measured against any fixed calendar. (Mary Jan Moffat)

One year, just hours, time stands still. The shock has passed; the heart yearns. You are more deeply loved today than yesterday and less than tomorrow.

Forever our love and our hero,
Sharon and Bub

You can shed tears that he is gone, or you can smile because he has lived.

You can close your eyes and pray that he'll come back, or your can open your eyes and see all he has left.

Your heart can be empty because you can't see him, or you can be full of the love you shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember him and only that he's gone, or you can cherish his memory and let it live on.

You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back, or you can do what he'd want:

Smile, Open Your Eyes, Love and Go On.

Each day we miss you terribly and today is such a vivid reminder of your absence, but know that you will be loved forever.

Happy Birthday Babe,

Love,

Sharon and Bub
