THURSTON, Daniel Leonard, 54 Born August 30, 1958 in San Francisco. Dan passed away on August 8, 2013 in Rohnert Park due to heart failure. Dan graduated from Burlingame High in 1976, and was a General Contractor in the Bay Area before moving to Rohnert Park in 1992. Dan had a true passion for life and was a loving father to two children.
He volunteered in many programs over the years. He founded Junior Linksters, a junior golf organization focused on helping young golfers to learn all about the sport. He was active with Redwood Empire Food Bank, COTS, Cross and Crown Church in Rohnert Park. He will be remembered for his huge heart and generosity and was looking forward to the birth of his first grandchild this November.
Dan is survived by his children, Ashley Christine Thurston, 29 and Daniel William Thurston III, 25 both of Rohnert Park, mother Mary Blum of Lincoln, sister MaryAnn Worman of Redwood City and step mother, Lucille Thurston of Burlingame. Dan is predeceased in death by his father Dan Thurston of Burlingame.
A celebration of life will be held at Foxtail Golf Course 100 Golf Course Drive, Rohnert Park on Monday August 26th from 2:00 - 5:30.

Laura, Ashley and Daniel, we are so sorry to hear about Dan. I just saw him while I was walking a few days before and he gave me a huge, typical Dan hug. He told me how excited he was about Ashley's baby and being a grandpa. Dan was a good friend to our family and a positive model for Kyle as his first soccer coach and golf teacher. He was gentle and kind to kids and always had a positive and encouraging word for his little guys. We will always remember that Dan. We are both sorry that we missed his memorial. I am so sorry to hear of Dan passing I was his hair stylist for many years . He was a wonderful person . He always found a way to make me laugh even when I was having a bad day . Love you Dan god bless your children. You will be missed!

So sad to here about this i was Danny's young neighbor long time ago. We would hang out after school.Helped Him with his El Camino. Never treated me like a little kid even though he was 5 years older. Just a great person as Teenager and i am sure he was great father and adult...

I was very sad when I found out dan had passed, I had just seen him days before at the store. Ashley if you need anything let me know, a shoulder to cry on anything. You guys were there for us when my mom passed suddenly and I know what you must be going through. Take care.
