I was thinking about Dave the other day. The last time I saw him was at a poker game at my house at my house. One memory was during P.E. we were tested for sit ups, broad jump and pull ups. When it was Dave's turn for pull ups, he turned to me and said, "Here goes the 10 second hang." True to his word he stayed on the bar for 10 seconds then dropped off without making any effort to pull himself up.

I join the words of Boris, from that 7 years I worked with David the last 3 years till the team was sent to different directions. As a new to the group David helped me to learn the environment / product. When I wrote a few utilities in Perl, I benefited from his passion for the language, he always had time to review my code and through his suggestions I was able to learn the intricacies of the language. He pointed out my mistakes in a direct, somehow humoresque way, I'll never repeat them, I never had a better mentor.
My deepest condolences go to David's family.

I worked with David, and I have learned a lot from him. He marked the Company success: Apptran, Postpath, Cisco.
Rest in peace.

I worked with David at Apptran/Postpath, then at Cisco. For about 7 years our cubicles were next to each other. We spend every working day, communicating and solving many technical problems together. We always had great relations, not once there was any conflict about anything. I have never worked more closely with anyone for such a long time in my career. It seemed to me at that time that there was a certain mutual bond between us, and I feel it remains in my thoughts even now. David was very smart, intelligent, intuitive, diligent, with a great sense of humor, sincere, candid and direct.
I have found out about David only two days ago, and became extremely sad about the horrible news. It is hard to understand the impossible...
My deepest condolences go to David's family -- I cannot imagine facing the tragedy of losing David. I will keep the memory of David and of the years I worked with him forever.
Sincerely, Boris Burshteyn.

Dave was a good friend of mine in high school and a few years after. We were in the bridge and chess club together and were motorcycle riding buddies. So sorry to hear he passed on.
