Resident of Morgan Hill
David Daniel Gutierrez (61) passed away on September 5, 2015 in San Jose, Ca. Preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Doris Gutierrez. He is survived by his wife (Marsha), daughter (Mia) brother (Don) and sister (Diane). A native of Los Gatos, he attended Los Gatos High School and San Jose State University. He graduated in 1986, with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. Dave was a devoted father and son. He will be remembered for his youthful spirit, great sense of humor and his strong loyalty to his San Francisco 49er's. Private services have been held.

I meet Dave thirty yeas ago. He did not introduce me to my husband, but he was one of the grammar school friends. I am very sorry to hear of Dave's passing. He enjoyed life and use to love driving his Iroc around Lake Tahoe:) May you rest in peace.

David will always hold a special place in my memory--his charismatic laugh, his love of his family and old Mexico, his devotion to his child, his long time buddies from grammar school who met as often as they could over the passing decades. David introduced me to my husband, when he invited me to a party at a cabin near The Cats in Los Gatos in 1979 on Christmas Night. David was standing outside the cats statute with my husband, Mario, to help arriving guests up the steep trail to the cabin. I met David in college, where I was often entertained by his myriad of funny faces and gestures during some of our Spanish classes. Dave struggled with a difficult class called morphology and we would discuss the class in the pub at San Jose State. I was traveling one year in Mexico and had gone into Mexico City by myself. I was being followed by strangers so David offered his room at his relatives in a nearby suburb, with him taking over the couch, so I would not be alone in the big City. I met his family members, danced in a local disco with young adults and we spent a day at the pyramids outside Mexico City.
When David visited our house in later years he and my husband watched Three Stooges tapes, and inexplicably broke out in laughter over the same gags they had seen over and over. I will miss that laughter and appreciation for the silly & his warm human qualities.
