David Normandin Obituary

David Louis Normandin
June 1, 1957 - November 20, 2012
Resident of San Jose
David Louis Normandin passed away suddenly of natural causes on Tuesday, November 20. He was known for his generosity, heart of gold, and spontaneous free spirit.
David was born June 1, 1957 in Colorado Springs, CO, graduated from Bellarmine College Preparatory in 1975, and earned a business degree from Santa Clara University in 1981.
He worked at Normandin Chrysler Jeep and Dodge in the Customer Service Department for many years, and spent his recent years caring for his two children as well as working as a jack-of-all-trades. He touched the lives of those who knew him with his kindness, generosity and sense of adventure. He often pulled up to his family members' driveways in his van, blasting classic rock music and inviting them along to catch frogs with him. He had a deep love for nature, and enjoyed visiting Yosemite for fishing trips. David approached the prospect of helping others with unbridled enthusiasm, from moving his niece into her college dorm room to spending hours painting fences or working on projects at his siblings' and friends' houses. He also had a sharp focus for creativity - the Christmas lights that adorned his home each year became famous throughout the neighborhood. Visits with David would usually involve some great barbeque (lots of meat), plenty of laughter, and at least one adventure.
David is survived by his wife Michelle, and is the adored father of Tristan and Sarah. He is also survived by his parents Lon and Peggy Normandin and siblings Caren Normandin, Lisa McHugh, Mark Normandin, Diane Azevedo, and Paul Normandin. He was a beloved uncle to 16 nieces and nephews. He will be sorely missed.
A funeral mass will be held Monday, Nov. 26 at 10:45 a.m. at St. Christopher Church, 1576 Curtner Avenue, San Jose. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Make a Wish Foundation would be greatly appreciated or to a charity of your choice.

My Dear Normandin Family,

I know David has passed some time ago but, I only recently became aware of his passing. David was a very special person, one of a kind. He showed my son, Michael love and kindness that only a true friend like David would do. My son called David " squeak" a nickname he gave him in the 2nd grade. They remained friends throughout the whole lives. I can't find the words that would truly define David except, blessed. My prayers are with for your family. He truly was a wonderful human being. It has been an honor knowing him.

Dave was my boss for over four years and he was just the best. I know that he cared about me and he always made me feel special. He literally gave me the Italian shirts off his back. He never failed even at the darkest times. The world lost a point of light.
My goal will always be to bring joy to others as he did.

I was a classmate of David's at Bellarmine and learned of his passing only this week. I recall David as a charismatic, vibrant and outgoing person who loved sports and who loved the Bellarmine experience. We were both managers of sports teams during our freshman year and David was so well liked by freshman, JV and Varsity football players and coaches. Our paths never crossed again after graduation day in 1975 but it's hard to forget David and his smile, laughter and his excitement for life. Perhaps our paths will cross again one day in Eternity. I look forward to seeing him there. God's speed to you, David, as well as to your family, loved ones and friends who must be missing you terribly.

I can't even say how saddened I am to know of David's passing away. David had that rare ability to find the joy in everything, and in that way touched the hearts of all who knew him; he was a special one indeed.

To Michelle and the Normadin Family,
I'm so sorry to hear about David. Having grown up with him in grade school, I remember a boy with a great sense of humor and a giving heart. He had so much joy and was always getting into some sort of mischief. I will always remember him with fond memories.

I wrote this eulogy hoping to share it at Dave's service. I am Kerry Smith, a long time friend. If you are here today , you learned something from Dave. You might have learned about forgiveness or dedication. You might have learned about humility or strength of character. About family and love. Most assuredly you learned about generosity and friendship.
Dave was my friend...I cannot say that about too many people. He was the friend that would give you the shirt off his back and he did that for me when I really needed it. He was there for me. He knew I would do the same for him, as we had many an adventure together.
I will miss him very, very much.

David has a special place in my heart and my memories. Many fun summer weekends skiing and gathering friends. He taught us to ski, fish, drive a boat, BBQ a turkey, and park huge trailers on tiny lots! He helped start me with my current career. He threw me the best surprise party of my life. And he shared his wonderful family. So many special times for myself and my son. He is a big person in my life. A huge loss. Always to be remembered and loved by us.
