I wish to share special memories from my daughter who was a student in the ungraded primary at Carlton School in San Jose. Mrs. Green had a partner teacher, Ms Warden...Colleen began "first" grade in the 1974-75 school year.
Colleen: "Mrs. Green made us all santa ornaments when she took a medical break. I still put it in my tree every year. And they made ice cream the year it snowed. We had a racetrack with little cars to show our progress on multiplication, they red mysteries to us after lunch..." A lot of years have passed. Colleen is 50 years old and remembers these years. I was a volunteer in the class and appreciated the environment and ungraded plan.
God bless Dawn Green and family. Thank you for sharing her passing in our area newspapers.
