Dennis Mee Obituary

Dennis Michael (Mike) Mee

Resident of Mt. View

Aug. 11, 1937-Nov. 3, 2011

Mike Mee, died peacefully at home on Thursday, November 3, 2011 surrounded by his family. Mike was the beloved husband of Barbara Hartford Mee; treasured father of daughters Patricia Salinas (daughter-in-law Melinda Hing), Elizabeth Mee, and Jorel Mee; doting grandfather to Carson Mee and Mason Gallardo; survived by dear sister Denny Higginbotham; and uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.

Mike was born in Placerville, CA to Jack and Audrey Mee. He served 9 years in the Air Force before beginning a 20-year law enforcement career that spanned the Palo Alto Police Department in Palo Alto, CA, Tillamook County Sheriff's Office in Tillamook, OR, and Milwaukie Police Department in Milwaukie, OR. Returning to California, Mike worked as an account manager for Lockheed Missiles & Space Company in Sunnyvale, CA and retired from his working career as a national account manager for Pinkerton/Securitas in Mountain View, CA. Mike earned a B.S. in Corrections and M.S. in Administration of Justice from San Jose State University.

Mike had a passion for nature and the outdoors and enjoyed a variety of sports. He played football in school, boxed in the Air Force, and enjoyed running, biking, swimming, scuba diving, weight lifting, hiking, and skiing. Mike also took great pleasure in education and after retiring donated time as a literacy volunteer to assist young students.

In keeping with Mike's wishes the family will hold a private Celebration of Life.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations In Memory of Dennis Michael Mee to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation at http://www.themmrf.org or the Wounded Warrior Project at http://www.wounded warriorproject.org.

Dear Barb,
I am so sorry for your loss. There are no words that do justice to help with the pain and sorrow. You are in my prayers.

Dear B. I do not you, buy I did Mike for a short period of time at PAPD. I had the utmost respect and confidence in him. He and I fought side by side and I could not have been more grateful. The world is a lessor place without him. God Bless, Hank Barnes Jr.

Barbara, I am so sorry for your loss and for Mike losing his battle to multiple myeloma as did my mother in 1990. I worked with Mike at the Palo Alto Police Dept. and thought of him as gentle man who was dedicated to his work. I worked in the Communication Center and he on the other side of the radio. He respected the life he was given and lived it to the fullest. Joni Canoose Corley

I worked with Mike for 15 yrs in Palo Alto. I've been in touch, via emails for the past 10 yrs, as Mike battled his cancer. Mike was always in great physical shape, as he loved to work out, run, hike, etc. Its too bad this disease finally won out. Best wishes Barbara.
