Derek Smillie passed away on December 20, 2016 in Reno Nevada at the age of 53.
Derek Robertson Smillie was born in Glasgow, Scotland on January 19, 1963 and immigrated to California in December 1969 at the age of 6 with his family. Derek resided in Cupertino and was a graduate of Cupertino High School.
He is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Isabella (Reilly) Smillie and is survived by his siblings John (Frankie) of Cupertino, Frank Smillie of Campbell and Valerie (Michael) Calvano of Santa Clara. He also leaves behind nephews & nieces Ian Smillie, Ryan Smillie, Jillian Smillie, Jack Smillie, Mikayla Calvano and Cole Calvano.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 12th at 2:00 pm at Los Gatos Memorial Park, 2255 Los Gatos Almaden Road in San Jose.
Derek will be deeply missed and his memory will live on in our hearts forever.
