Diana Vourvoulias Obituary

Diana Warwick (Milsom) Vourvoulias

Resident of Belmont

Passed away at home on October 5, 2011, after lengthy battles with both Alzheimer's disease and pancreatic cancer. Diana was born on October 25, 1928 to Geoffrey and Edith Milsom in Vancouver, British Columbia. Her childhood was filled with friends, music, and tennis. After graduating from the University of British Columbia and living in Toronto and London, Diana immigrated to San Francisco in the late 1950s. While in San Francisco, she met her future husband, Takis, on the Funston Playground tennis courts in the Marina. Diana and Takis married in 1961 and soon moved to Belmont to start their life together. They lived in their same home for over 50 years and raised their two daughters, Andrea and Maria, in Belmont. Diana was a devoted mother and wife, and exhibited her signature creativity and wit when volunteering as a Belmont Park Booster, completing various home improvements and gardening projects, making beautiful hand made holiday decorations and greeting cards, playing the piano, and travelling the globe for family reunions.

Diana was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Geoffrey and Douglas Milsom. She is survived by her loving husband Takis Vourvoulias, daughters Andrea Vourvoulias and Maria Lutz, son-in law Christopher Lutz, and grandchildren Caleb and Althea Lutz.

A celebration of Diana's life will be held at the family home on December 17, 2011. Donations can be made in Diana's honor to Mission Hospice in San Mateo, National Alzheimer's Association or the American Institute for Cancer Research.
