It was my pleasure to work with Dick from 1982-85 at the old "Harbour Site" across Highway 101. It was during the time that OptoElectronicsDivision was born. Dick facilitated my first trip to Singapore which was one of my longest and best trips. Thanks for the memories Dick. You will be missed.

Dick and I were classmates at Caltech, and colleagues at HP (and avid supporters of Christy's Papermates at Stanford Shopping Center). Dick was an outstanding HP contributor and leader -- unassuming, hard-working, smart as a whip, and immense integrity. Everyone who worked with or for him admired him. I certainly did, and do. People like Dick is what made HP so special -- it wasn't just Dave and Bill, it was the whole team

I never worked directly for Dick, but did always have the impression he was an upbeat, straight up, caring, clear thinking and hard working guy. We had the privilege of working at HP when it was still one of the best run companies in the world with lots of great products to put our marks on. Not all the managers were of Dick's caliber, but many were and we benefited by being on teams with great colleagues, having good tools, making a contribution, having fun much of time and making a living. Not much more you can ask for in a job. Thanks, Dick.

Dick was a great man. I started HP in 1977 and worked with Dick most of my HP and Agilent career. My sincere sympathies go out to his family. Kathy Wache
