Dick Randall Obituary

Dick Jowell Randall
Apr. 20, 1931 - Jan. 12, 2022
Resident of Los Gatos and longtime Bay Area resident
Dick was born in Amarillo, Texas. When he was five years old, he moved with his parents and older brother to a town near Long Beach, California. He served for several years in the Coast Guard. Dick had a successful career in the real estate development industry where he ascended to the position of President at the William Lyon company. He served on several corporate boards of directors. His second career and retirement hobby was as a rancher and a horse breeder, showing horses with his daughter and operating a ranch in Ione, California. He was a major funder of stem cell research at UC Davis and cared about animal health and healing. Dick had many passions throughout his life, including water skiing, snow skiing, flying airplanes (including a Saber Liner corporate jet), scuba diving, travel and philanthropy.
Dick is survived by his wife, Carolyn Randall; his children Michael Randall, Kevin Randall and Tiffany Chaston; grandchildren Tasha Hagerman, Jowell Randall, Zachary Randall and Zoe Chaston; and great-grandchildren Carson Hagerman, Charlie Hagerman, Harrison Hagerman and Logan Randall.

I´m so sorry to hear of Dick´s passing. What a wonderful human being. He helped me get back into horses by giving me a beautiful saddle and bridle and offering up a lot of advice. He was always so generous. I know he is in horseman´s heaven riding his beloved Top Sail Cody performing beautiful spins and slides. My condolences to Carolyn and family.

My sincere condolences.... I did the photography and advertising for his horse business for many years. He has always been my favorite customer to work with... One stormy, rainy day there was a knock on my office door and there stood Dick, soaking wet, holding a long narrow framed wolf print... He said I know you like wolves and this jumped into my shopping cart!!! Just a caring man... I owned up to an advertising mistake before he knew about it... Thought he would terminate me but he smiled and we sat down and worked out a plan to remedy it... He said if you own up to a mistake it can always be worked out... Love that man... and he loved his family soooo much... I hope you all know that... RIP my friend..
