Donne Singleton Obituary

Donne A. Singleton
June 18, 1956 - March 1, 2018
Austell, GA
Donne Singleton (maiden name Mathias), a long-time San Jose resident, relocated to Austell, Georgia in 1992 and peacefully passed away at her residence on March 1, 2018. She was 61. The cause of her death was Machado-Joseph Disease (MJD). While attending Willow Glen High School, Donne was the top gymnast in her class. While attending San Jose State University, she performed in musicals. She was bright, talented, warm, and she loved animals. Donne earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and multiple certificates in the healing arts. After working for the United States Postal Service, she transitioned to massage therapy, and eventually opened her own home-based business. Prior clients, who attended her memorial service on March 4th, attested that "Donne had hands of gold". Beginning in 1993, her motor functions began failing, due to MJD, and over the past ten years, she became increasingly dependent on home care services. Donne is survived by her sister, Cyd Mathias of Milpitas, CA, her foster sister, Maria de Jesus Duran Meza of San Francisco, CA, her Brother-in-Law Charlie E. Channel of East Palo Alto, CA, her nephews Amani Channel, Charlie Salim Channel, Derek Bryant and Hashim Ali, and her niece, Leslie Marie Channel.
