Doris Oldfield Higgins

Doris Oldfield Higgins, died Friday, June 15th, in Cupertino, California, at The Forum at Rancho San Antonio, the retirement community that was her home since 2001. She was 88.Mrs. Higgins died peacefully after a brief illness with cancer, family members said. Although a native New Jerseyian, Mrs. Higgins moved to California to be near three of her children. Her daughters, Betsy, who lives in San Jose, and Judy, who lives in Long Beach, were constant companions to her.Mrs. Higgins was the mother of five children and the beloved wife, until his death in 1974, of James C. Higgins of Short Hills, NJ.Mrs. Higgins was known and loved by many as a vivacious presence at The Forum, where she held court during visits by children, grandchildren, and friends.Her five children, James C., of Eagle, Co; Judy Zellmer, of Long Beach, Ca, Richard, of Concord, Ma.; Betsy Noonen, of San Jose, and Chris, of Henniker, NH, and their spouses survive her. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren.A Celebration of Life will be held at the Forum on Thursday, June 21 from 3-5 pm.The family requests that in lieu of flowers that a donation is made to the Resident's Appreciation Fund at The Forum at Rancho San Antonio, 23500 Cristo Rey Dr., Cupertino, Ca 95041. This fund is a financial appreciation distributed annually to all the employees at the Forum who provide such loving and professional care to the residents.
