Ed passed away peacefully in Granite Bay CA on April 12, 2022. Ed was born in Detroit Michigan. He graduated as valedictorian at Cass Tech High School in Detroit and later obtained an engineering degree from the University of Michigan. Ed was also a veteran, serving in the US Army during WWII. His distinguished engineering career included positions at Lincoln Mercury Ford, North American Rockwell Aviation, United Technologies Corporation and IBM. His proudest career moments included participating on the team that put a man on the moon with the North American Rockwell Apollo program, shaking hands with astronauts Edward H. White and Gus Grissom and receiving numerous distinguished engineering awards. Ed was also a general contractor and constructed two homes in Monte Sereno.
Ed enjoyed traveling the world with Patricia, gardening, fishing, playing piano and songwriting. Ed was an active parishioner and head usher at St Mary's Church in Los Gatos for many years. Ed was famous for fixing everything automotive and virtually anything around the house. Ed was particularly fond of his role as grandfather to his seven grandchildren.
Ed is survived by his beloved wife Patricia and children Ed (Mary) and Cathy O'Brien (Doug) and Marty (Amy), and grandchildren Kevin, Danny and Matt O'Brien, and Joe, Emma, Kenny and Anna Malysz.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday June 24th at St. Mary's Church in Los Gatos at 10:30 am, followed by a reception in the church courtyard.
