Evio Marcucci Obituary

Evio Marcucci

Resident of S. San Francisco

Dec. 2, 1935 - Oct. 9, 2011

A native of Bozzano, Lucca, passed away peacefully in his home in South San Francisco. He was a loving husband to his wife Laila of 51 years, a loving father, brother, grandfather, father-in-law and friend to many. He was a devoted employee of Sunset Scavenger Sanitation Company for 32 years. Evio was an avid soccer fan as well as a player himself. He played for Son's of Italy soccer organization, as well as, San Francisco Athletic Club in the 1970's. He coached the soccer teams of both his son and daughter while growing up. Such a fan of the game, he would wake up each Sunday to watch the soccer games live as broadcasted from Italy on RAI television. In addition, he also loved to play bocce ball everyday at Orange Park with the many friends he acquired throughout the years. BBQ's were a must with his family and singing and wine were never left out. His taste for life was sweeter than wine. Evio is survived by his loving wife Laila, son Danny and wife Jill Marcucci, daughter Patrizia, brother Lino and Marisa Marcucci, grandchildren Lindsay and Trevor Gober and Joey Marcucci, nephews and nieces Luano, Mike, David and Pola.

I've heard of Evio's glorious soccer days. I played bocce, pedro and scopone with him.
A good soccer player, a good bocce player, a good pedro player, a good scopone player, a better man. I miss him.

I was very sorry to hear about Evio's passing. Danny and I played soccer together for several years for the Peninsula Social Club, and I recall Evio coming to our games. He loved soccer. In fact, my father-in-law, Ezio, once told me that one of the best goals he ever saw was scored by Evio. My sincere condolences to the entire family.

Danny & family, we are so sorry about your loss. It is so hard to lose someone you love, but think of your times together and the joy it brought you, and those thoughts will ease your pain and help to see you through.
Love, Cindy Nomellini, Gianluca and Christian

What I remember most was his zest for life. He once told me live for today because you may not like what tomorrow brings. I truly believe he lived by that philosophy, with no regrets. He was never judgmental towards me no matter what the issue was, and we had our fare share, as most families do. Riposa in pace zio avete meritato.
