Gerardo Santamaria Obituary

Gerardo "Jerry" Santamaria
May 30, 1935-July 6, 2018
San Jose
Gerardo was born in Guaymas, Mexico and immigrated with his mother to San Jose when he was 14. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1954, and soon married Lupe Carrasco who became his beloved wife for 61 happy years. Gerardo proudly worked for Lockheed Missiles and Space Company for 30 years, doing drafting and engineering work on the Milstar Program satelllites and the Hubble Space Telescope. He was among the very first engineers to work on the newly developed CADAM software program, and upon retiring, he set the Lockheed record for working on this system, having logged in more than 32,500 hours.
Gerardo is survived by his wife Lupe; his 7 children Margie, Jerry, Fernando, Frank, Albert, Esther and Victor; and his 5 grandchildren Kristina and Joseph Rivera; Elena McConnell; Fernando, Jr. and Anthony Santamaria. By persevering through many health challenges, never complaining, Gerardo lived a full life of integrity, honor, success, and unyielding love for his family.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Viewing Service on Monday July 16th (5pm to 6:30pm), immediately after which will be the Rosary Service (7pm to 9pm) at the Oak Hill Funeral Home "Oaks Chapel" (300 Curtner Ave, San Jose, CA). A mass will follow on Tuesday July 17th (10am) at Sacred Heart Church (325 Willow St), with burial following afterwards at Oak Hill Cemetary. In lieu of offering gifts of flowers, please make a donation in his memory to Sacred Heart Church. Also, please visit his memorial website to view an online celebration of his life, as well as to offer words of memorium and prayer: https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries
