Gino Gasparini Obituary

Gino Gasparini

Resident of Redwood City

At rest in his Redwood City home on January 10, 2011 at the age of 86.

Born April 20, 1924 in Weed, California he returned to Crespano del Grappa, Italy with his parents at age 3. He spent his childhood and early adulthood in Italy until age 24 when he came to the US with his wife, Louisa, in 1948 with big dreams, some spare change in his pocket, a hard work ethic and hope. After just a few days in the United States, he joined a friend who had a job for him at San Mateo Scavenger Company. With his hard work ethic, he became partner and remained with San Mateo Scavenger, then Browning Ferris Industries (BFI) for 40 years. Like his family, his work partners were his family as well.

Gino loved to hunt, play bocce ball, play cards and BBQ. Always told the best jokes but often couldn't finish them because he laughed too hard. Always a smile on his face, never missed a day of work, and would do anything for his family or a neighbor.

Gino is survived by his wife of 63 years, Louisa Gasparini. Gino's imprint on this earth will live on through his three children, daughter Bruna Gasparini and her husband Vince Ippolito, granddaughters Carrie Gann Keely and husband Doug Keely, Christina Gann Munguia and husband Ricardo Munguia and great grandchild Isabella, and granddaughter, Nina Gann. Gino's son, David "Gino" Gasparini has followed his father's footsteps in garbage, with David's wife Jenny Gasparini and grandchildren, Andriana, Daniel, Michael and Nicholas Gasparini will all miss their Nonno, and daughter Daniela Gasparini and husband, Alyn Beals. Gino is also survived by his two sisters, Maria Bedford and Flora Buranzon.

Please join the family at a Rosary Service and Celebration at St. Pius Church 1100 Woodside Road, Redwood City on Sunday, January 16, 2011 at 2:00 pm.

Should you wish to honor the memory of Gino Gasparini, please consider donating to the Sequoia Hospital Foundation who took such great care of Gino or simply give an hour of your time to your community in his honor. Do it for Gino as he would for you. Crippen & Flynn

As much as my family will miss Gino our found memories will always bring a smile. The kindness he showed will never be forgotten.

Gino wasn’t the Jack-of-all-trades he was the KING! He could make vegetables grow like no one I’ve ever known. He could build anything you could possibly think of. The most amazing thing about Gino was if the tool didn’t exist - - he would invent it!

He was a master of the Bar-B-Que and Brandy Cherries. After a beautiful meal he would pass around his Fuji Apples and Cheese. Of course, that was followed by a good glass of Port.

People cross paths for one reason or another. My path is far brighter because of the Gasparini family. I’m so thankful Gino and his family opened their hearts and shared so many personal times with us. We are so blessed and for that my friend I (we) thank you.

I know Denette, Ashley and of course myself always felt so special when Gino would smile and say hello “Bella”! No matter how many times we heard him say it – it always made us feel special!

After a long and wonderful life God has called Gino. I’m sure Gino entered Heaven with his tools in hand and just before entering the Pearly Gates he stopped to adjust even “that gate” one last time!

We’ll miss you Gino!

Love Always,

Ted, Claudette, Denette, Ashley and Family

I think I can speak for all of us who grew up on Chatham with warm memories of "Mr. Gasparini" - he was a great neighbor and good to all of the kids running around the neighborhood. Thanks for sharing him with us.
