Gunvor Vivie Ericsson, nee Norin. Born in Stockholm, Sweden. Died at home of recently diagnosed lung cancer, among the 20% of women victims who never smoked.
Gunvor met her husband Lars folk dancing and they enjoyed folk, square and round dancing throughout most of her life. She was one of two women in her graduating class at dental school in Stockholm and a polio survivor. After immigrating to the United States with her husband in 1956 she could not work without repeating her training and chose to focus fully on her children. Gunvor was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Gunvor is survived by her sister Eivor and her family in Sweden; husband Lars of 62 years; her four daughters Marianne, Eva, Kerstin and Karin; nine grandchildren Eli, Ian, Alan, Alea, Alana, Daniel, Tony, Odin and Haukin; and six great-grandchildren, Hakan, Llian, Daileigh, Streeter, Bowyn and Orlando.
A celebration of Gunvor's life will be held at 2 pm Wednesday May 1st at the Spangler Mortuary (650-948-6619) in Los Altos. She supported the SmileTrain effort to help children with cleft lip or palate.

It was sad to hear of Gunvor's passing. She and Lars danced with our Round Dance Class in Redwood City for a while. We enjoyed their company and know that they enjoyed dancing. Our love and prayers are with your family.

My best wishes to you Marianne and your family. I couldn't believe how I immediately recognized your mom's picture in the paper! So many good memories. It is wonderful that your parents had each other for so many years. My mother has been alone for the past 8 years so I am her primary care giver. My love and best wishes to your whole family.

Dear Karin, I love you so! I have fond memories of your mom. She always treated me so well. My favorite memory is of her calling for you: "Karin! Karin!" in her beautiful Swedish accent. God bless you and your family during this difficult time.
