Helen Mc Cune Obituary

Helen Dorothy

Mc Cune

Resident of San Carlos

Aug. 22, 1918-June 7, 2010

Helen died peacefully at Sequoia Hospital after a long illness. She was born in Astoria, Oregon to Charles and Jenny Pitkanen who had emigrated from Finland in the early 1900s. She moved to San Mateo County in 1936 and was a resident of Redwood City and later San Carlos for 73 years.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years John Wayne Mc Cune, her daughter Sharon Henderson of Santa Clara, California, her daughter Doreen Johnson of Fort Collins, Colorado, three grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Helen was known for her kindness and generosity but her family members were most important to her. She worked for many years for the County of San Mateo as an Eligibility Supervisor and retired in 1970. She was an excellent cook and homemaker and took a special interest in current events of a political nature. She particularly enjoyed the lively conversations held at the San Carlos Senior Center's Chitchat Class.
