Hiro Tsukimura
November 9, 1933 - September 1, 2017
Resident of Sunnyvale
Hiro passed away peacefully on Friday, September 1. He was born in Fresno and as a child during WWII was interned in Tule Lake, California. Upon graduation from Fowler High School he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in North Carolina as a helicopter mechanic. After his military service he worked as an airline mechanic for the next 43 years, retiring from Northwest Airlines in 2001.
An avid sports fan, he spent his leisure time going to watch the Sharks, 49ers, and the Giants. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and supporting all their extracurricular activities.
Hiro was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Alice Tsukimura, and his brother, Ray. He is survived by his wife, Irene; sons, Gary and David (Joni); daughter, Dyan (Kyle) Oki; sister, Aileen Tsukimura; sister-in-law, Peggie Tsukimura; granddaughters, Alyssa Oki, Kaitlyn Oki, Erika Tsukimura, Kylia Oki; grandson, Jason Tsukimura; and his four-legged friend, Buzz.
He will be greatly missed. Services have been held.
